The 2021 Voldemar Siimon Memorial Scholarship

Description of Scholarship:

The Voldemar Siimon Memorial Scholarship aims to support the studies and self-improvement of successful students of Ethnology or Estonian and Finno-Ugric Linguistics at the University of Tartu. 

Value/amount

Up to five scholarships in the amount of 1500 euros. 

Full Eligibility Requirements:

Those eligible to apply for the scholarship include the following students of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Tartu: 

  • successful in the curricula of Ethnology, Folkloristics and Applied Anthropology
  • successful students of all study levels in Estonian and Finno-Ugric Linguistics curriculum, whose narrower speciality is Estonian or Baltic-Finnic languages. 

When awarding a scholarship, the scholarship committee will consider the applicant's academic achievements, professional performance, and social activities. Under other equal conditions, the scholarship committee may prefer students who were born and raised in Saaremaa.

How to Apply: 

  • an electronic application form containing personal data, an overview of academic and social activities, a supervisor's recommendation, etc.
  • transcript of records (including a weighted average grade)

The scholarship will be paid out after signing the contract with the University of Tartu Foundation.
